No more, I promise!!

Life has been so crazy and BUSY lately. I’m basically chasing my tail!

*takes deep breath*

In the last month; I’ve had a cold, a birthday, cut 5 inches off my hair, then dyed and added black low lights to my hair, a colonoscopy, a migraine that sent me to the ER, trying to find a house, I am super close to promoting to district manager with Arbonne, took Lucien to the vet only to find out he had a bad cold, and trying to keep peace in the house with 5 very energetic/naughty cats. Who knew that adding two cats to our home would double the cat poo in the box and make the food dishes empty quicker? *lets out breath*
Speaking of our new additions…

MacMimi

Mac and Mimi are brother and sister. I believe they are part Siamese and 2-3 years old. I wasn’t planning on keeping them. I was going to call Animeals the next morning. I’ve always wanted a Siamese baby, but 5 cats was not apart of my plan. The second I took Mimi out of her mom’s arms a big “SUCKER” sign lit up above my head. Steve saw it and said it was flashing.

The first week was the most stressful for all of us: Me, Steve, my mom (grandmeowmie) and all 5 of the cats. As you can imagine, there was lots of hissing, growling and pissing matches going on. (figuratively speaking) We were told Mac was very protective of Mimi, but the roles reversed and she seemed to be the one protecting him. At times though, she was so stressed out that, he got a few smacks during her rampages. Having each other made the transition much smoother though. I feel sooo guilty that we couldn’t introduce them to our brood the proper way. Well and I feel sorry for my other furkids too.

A month has passed. I’m learning that Mac is a big goofy teddy bear. I could have swore he was 20 pounds, but when I weighed him the scale lied on his behalf and said 16. I wish it would do that for me!! Grandma (my mom) accidentally said aloud that Mac was her favorite now. (It used to be Elvira) I think he heard her because he has now claimed her as his own slave. She is the only one that can pick him up, squeeze him and give him kisses. When I do it, he cries like a sissy girl and squirms to get down. BAH!

Mimi became my shadow right away. I’m not sure if it was because I was the one who took her and brought her inside from the car. She was clingy, but aside from being aggressive toward the others, she seemed to be ok. Then she gave me a scare. She wasn’t eating like I assumed and seemed glued to the foot of the bed when I was gone. She growled at everyone and everything. I did everything to comfort and console her, but by day 3 she was vomiting yellow bile. It was late at night when we realized this. I decided to take her to the vet the next day. Mom was home and said she saw her eat a little and drink some water. I think the idea of “the vet” chilled her out. I let it go for another day, and sure enough, she’s now eating, drinking and pooing like the rest of them. She’s also leaving the safety of our bed when I’m gone.

Mimi is giving Pandora a run for her money in the bitch department. They fight over who gets to sleep ON meowmy. It’s amazing how much alike they are. Their build is similar, their expressions say “leave me alone” and they both paw at you for attention, or stalk your hand to pet them. When fed, they both just take a few bites and walk away. When they play with toys, it’s more like killing. They are meaner then the boys!

The only difference I’ve noticed so far is Pandora HATES to be picked up. She literally squeaks, then lets out a warning growl. Meems doesn’t mind when I pick her up, unless other cats are around, then she acts tough and growls. If I walk away from the crowd she purrs and lets me pet, squeeze and give her my version of head bonks. OH and Mimi likes to burrow under covers and Pandora freaks out if you cover so much as her paw up.

This is the current scorecard. Mac likes everyone in the house, and everyone but Pandora likes him back. Lucien loves having a buddy to tear the house up with. The only time they really fight, is when they both want to be at the top of the cat tree. Go figure! Mac either sleeps with Mimi at the foot of our bed, or with Grandmeowmie.

Mimi loves her brother, and is starting to tolerate Lucien and Elvira. Sometimes she trips out and forgets that she likes them and hisses. She hates Pandora and whatever she dishes out, Pandora dishes it right back.

Lucien and Elvira love everyone.

Pandora loves Elvira. They nap together all the time and she bathes Elvira like a baby. She tolerates Steve when he follows her rules of petting ettiquette. Grandmeowmie is awesome when she’s giving treats, but there is no question she loves her Meowmy.

For the record. NO MORE KITTIES!! I PROMISE. Well, at least until we find a bigger house. *giggle*

Meet Lucien

Taken by Steve’s cell the night Lucien was brought to our house.

While at work one evening, Judy a housekeeper, came to my window and asked if I wanted a kitty. While replying yes, I was shaking my head NO. Elvira needed a kitty, but now was not the time.

Apparently a few of the employees were outside on a break and a little fuzzball ran across the street to hang out with them. He was a talker and purred up a storm as they took turns holding him. They tried to shoo him away, but he wouldn’t budge. He had a collar, but no tags. On occasion they’ve witnessed cars drive by and swerve to hit squirrels and cats. They didn’t want him to get hurt so what do they do? Yeah, you guessed it.

Judy had spent countless nights hanging out with me on her evening breaks listening me go on and on about my furkids. When they all agreed something had to be done with kitty, she knew where to go.

“Judy, I can’t take a kitten right now. I don’t have the room and the girls will hate me!” Once she told me about seeing cars swerve, the look on my face gave her the answer she wanted. Kitty wasn’t allowed inside the hospital, so I called Steve to come rescue the fuzzy baby.

I was dying to know the sex of the kitty and what it looked like. I called and begged Steve to take pictures and text them to me. What a precious boy! He belonged to someone though. He had to! He had a collar. I had two hours left on my shift so I decided to place an ad on Petfinder.com and in the local lost and found in the paper.

When I got home I loved him up and down. He was in heaven! The girls were in hell. Pandora hated him at first sight. Elvira didn’t know what to think. She was curious, as I knew she would be, but if she got to close kitty hissed at her. After awhile she said forget it, and started hissing back. *sigh*

Days went by and nobody called. Steve was already attached. OK, I was too. We decided he owned us now so I called the vet to set up a check up, shots and a snip snip.

I secretly had been thinking of names since the first night. I’m not stupid. I knew I’d get attached and he’d stay. I wanted to stay with the “vampire” theme. Pandora was named after a vampire in an Ann Rice novel. Elvira, well, I couldn’t think of another female vampire that would be easy to yell and spell. She’s all black so, that was that. Elvira, mistress of the dark. I didn’t want to name the new kitty Louie or Lestat. To me it would be like naming a white cat snowball.

It finally hit me! His long face and the tufts of hair behind his ears made him look like a little Lycan. So from the movie Underworld, we named him Lucien.

I went to meet this green-eyed lap kitty. (I need to find a better picture that shows her beautiful eyes) She wasn’t actually a kitten. The sign stated that she was about two years old. My friend went with me and on the drive over all she kept saying was, “I think you need a kitten, a kitten would be much better for Pandora.” UGH!

I love kittens. They are cute, but they are also naughty unless you have lots of time to spend with them. They need to learn where to poo and what not to shred or eat. That includes your fingers, toes and hair. I didn’t have time to deal with a small bundle of terror. I also had several plants. Pandora was a good girl and left them alone. Kittens assume they are treats or play things. Ok, not all kittens do, but all the ones that have owned me before did. I sound anti-kitteh and it’s not true! LOL I’m just saying that I want to be a responsible pet owner/slave and there is a good time and a bad time to try to get a new baby and bond properly. This wasn’t the time.

We arrived at the apartment where the cat lived. I wanted to take her home immediately. It didn’t matter that she completely ignored me and proceeded to crawl all over my friend. There was just something about her. I about died when her buddy, the couples toddler, flopped on the floor and she flopped right next to him. They both laid there in a twisted position as happy as clams.

Her current parents wanted to make sure “Boo” was going to a good home. I respected that. If I was to be her new meowmie, I’d have to wait until the Misses and her son left so he wouldn’t freak out that “kitty!” wasn’t going with. My heart was breaking. He seemed to love her so much. Boo let him pet her, the way small children do, and when he decided he was done chillin’ on the floor he grabbed her and carried her off like a limp rag doll. She just purred.
To help convince them I should be her new slave, I asked a few questions so they knew she was going to a good home, not just someone that would neglect her or hurt her. I learned that Boo loves baths, only because after a while she had no choice. Her buddy had rubbed peanut butter all over her, among other things. She also added that Boo was a cuddle bug and preferred to sleep in the bed with her and her husband.

The next day I got a call from Mr. ? (I am so bad with names.) Boo is mine! I can come get her as soon as I donate $25 to the Humane Society and show him the receipt. HOORAY! First things first. She needed a different name!

I didn’t expect things to go smoothly when I brought Elvira home. That was an understatement. Pissy Missy (Pandora) was down right pissed off! I felt so bad because Elvira was chill and just trying to check our her new home. She was curious about Pandora as well and made several attempts to introduce herself. “RAWR” and *SMACK* was all she got. By the second day she basically said screw you to Pandora and started hissing and growling back. It took about 4 days until Pandora realized the annoying new kid wasn’t leaving.

Over the next year I realized Elvira is a kitten in disguise. Her energy is limitless. I decided I didn’t want to be tagged as a spinster with two cats so I decided to get a boyfriend. Said boyfriend, Steve claimed she’s not a cat, but rather she’s part monkey, part doggy and part orangutan. I rolled my eyes because I know he loves dogs and would kill for a monkey so he’s just making the best of living with two cats and their crazy meowmie.

Pandora loves her sister, as the pictures above illustrate. She even forgets she’s a princess sometimes and runs around the house like a loon with her sister. It’s short lived though. She gets tired, or pissy and Elvira is left bored and still buzzing with energy. Here is where I start considering if it’s “kitten” time. Not only does Pandora need a break, but Steve and I do too. Elvira starts in on us wanting attention constantly and though I love her, I want to choke her.

Her chirps and purrts purrts make my heart melt. Oh but she never stops talking. Well, she does like to cuddle. Yeah, but she wont sit still for more than two minutes. (reminds me of a toddler that likes to wiggle or likes to play the “I want up, no I want down game.) I don’t let her know this, but when she talks back to me when I’m scolding her, I just want to pick her up and snorgle her. *sigh*

Ok Ok, I know deep down having three cats is crazy so I dismiss the idea and instead go to Pet Smart an buy more toys. Elvira is a handful, but I figured she’ll start to mellow out as time goes on. HA!

When my mom used to tell me that when you stop looking for something, it looks and finds you. I used to laugh. Not anymore.

Meowmie gets distracted easily.

Pandora

Meow! My name is Pandora. My meowmie has been slacking lately so I’ve decided to do some blogging of my own. She tends to get distracted by shiny objects, then forgets what she’s supposed to be doing. Thank goodness Grandma lives with us now or we’d never get fed! Meowmie plans on telling you more about me, my sister Elvira, my new brothers Lucien & Mac, and my new sister Mimi. ( She makes me *Hissssssssssss*.) What boring subjects! I think this site should be all about me and what makes me *purrrr*.

I think I am the most beautiful kitty in the world. I’m the most well-behaved and should get all the attention, but alas, meowmie and daddy, think other wise. It’s not my fault I hate being picked up. Squeezing is unacceptable! I can’t stand when you muss up my fur so if you insist on petting me, you must first get my approval.

I’m not always a grumpy girl. I love my froggy, Greenies and sometimes my sister Elvira. Catnip bubbles bring out the kitten in me, and the furry ‘nip filled squirrel meowmie got me for my birthday last year is devine! *purrrrrrrrr* Last Christmas Santa Paws brought a tall tree just for me. Lucien thinks it’s his though and I hardly get to hang out on it. Lucien thinks everything is his. *growl*

I hear Grandma walking around. If I act cute enough maybe she’ll give me some treats!

It always starts out with one, doesn’t it?

I never understood the saying, “Cats are like potato chips, You can’t have just one.” I don’t really like potato chips unless you consider pretzels and pork rinds chips?

Now I totally get it!

First there was Pandora, “Bitch kitty”. I got her when a friend moved away and couldn’t take her. I couldn’t resist her hateful glare. She was skittish, but soon warmed up and claimed me as “hers”. We did just fine on our own for a year, but then I started working long hours and she started getting tubby. I felt like a bad meowmie so I considered getting her a sibling. I wanted to run to the shelter right away, but then I had a flashback.

I had two cats when I was 18 and in my first apartment. Angus and his brother Snowball. I admit, I couldn’t handle the two of them. The food bill, the stinky cat box, and the playing/fighting at all hours about drove me over the edge. I ending up giving “little brother” to a co-worker who thankfully spoiled him ROTTEN.

I didn’t want to be an irresponsible pet owner and risk getting another cat, only to give it away again. I’d made many mistakes when it come to animals, and I suffered enough. I’m sure they did too. To this day I regret leaving Angus with my ex and years later having a old friend take Arthur (got him when I moved out of dorms) to the INHUMANE society. My heart aches just thinking about them.

I digress..

One evening I was leaving work and saw a to give away ad with a picture of “Boo”. “Lap kitty searching for new mom and dad”. Her green eyes called out “Meowmie, come get me!” I took down the entire ad and basically ran to my car.
